What if WoS rugs everyone?

It’s a step to learn Bitcoin. I imagine if people see enough value in zaps they will eventually want to learn how to best protect that.

Once LNURL is possible and more usable on other wallets and platforms it will become much less of a risk Growing pains, and #[4] is doing great
I don't have an issue with normies onboarding through a custodial wallet. Lightning shouldn't be too intimidating. Back up these words, if you lose it the funds are gone is definitely intimidating for a newbie, so much so that I've heard people say they trust exchanges to hold their bitcoin. But it's important to keep reminding that WoS is custodial and self custody is not that hard. People in circular economies were onboarded to Bluewallet without being told it's custodial by default. I've still not seen a Bluewallet notification within the app reminding users to move funds out. Phoenix is a very user friendly self custodial wallet. Breez keeps getting better and better. I believe self custody will get easier after bolt12, DFC & channel factories. I worry that too many people are going to get accustomed to a custodial lightning wallet. IMO every wallet should consider providing three levels and let the user decide - beginner (custodial), intermediate (channel managed), advanced (self managed). A responsible wallet provider would remind users not to rely on custodial option long term.
