Just proves how tribal we really are... It's so deeply ingrained into our primitive brain we don't notice it but it really runs most of our lives...

Don't be average. Buy bitcoin.

Decent read. I think it glosses over the fact that mass appeal requires appeal to the lowest common denominator, hence, watered down artistic concepts. Globalization maybe has proliferated this. I have a prominent friend who remarked that all the "Bitcoin Girl Influencers" have a similarly crafted persona. Because they're striving for mass appeal, likely. Checkmate? Lol. Jk. Mostly.

God, that's depressing. Probably the same with frequencies in music. Everything over the last 40 years has become more and more compressed. 🙄

We have sold a tan/beige color scheme for one of our products for years. Steady modest growth. We released a gray color scheme for the same product and sales have basically doubled each of the last two years.

Yes! As a musician, I do follow these trends. Another great example.
“I’m not saying this is any good. I’m saying that this’ll win. It’s mass appeal. It’s like what motels put up, and it hangs there for years, and no one ever throws acid at it.” Parks and Recreation S2 E9: The Camel
Everything’s the same, but look how much choice you have. Can also look at it that there’s a specific frequency and sound combination that humans are attracted to.
Shut up and play the hits!
History repeating. Or accelerating.
This is one of my biggest questions about widespread use of AI. Will it help us come up with novel ideas or just re-feed us more of the same?

I've been using stable diffusion for months now and it could easily generate endless images that look exactly like the stuff in that article. Except for the images with text, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I think it will be cheaper and easier to soothe the masses with bland, average content. At the same time, perhaps a new role emerges for those who do the hard work of sifting through an endless stream of generated content, elevating the rare gems, for an audience that wants to keep things weird.
I think this is money: "At the same time, perhaps a new role emerges for those who do the hard work of sifting through an endless stream of generated content, elevating the rare gems, for an audience that wants to keep things weird."
