I think we should also be honest that almost everyone is currently having their feed dictated by follow lists, and they get those follow lists during the Primal onboarding process.
It's the worst bubble, defined by Nostr's worst editorial board, but the users usually never find out that there is anything else. They just come here, are bored out of their minds, and then leave.
Follow packs are better, but as they are a document, rather than an active service, they'll tend to atrophy.
The difference is that the feed curators are service providers, who are competing with offering you interesting, lively, relevant content. They know that if they fuck around, they're going to find out.
They know that you can simply change the channel.
