It is very interesting that Nostr is so casually namedropped in this thing: https://www.theverge.com/23658648/mastodon-ceo-twitter-interview-elon-musk-twitter
"it’s just full of spam and people talking about cryptocurrencies"

"There’s Nostr, which I think is also Dorsey’s. Yes, there’s that. As far as I know, it’s just full of spam and people talking about cryptocurrencies."

Yes, it's sad. Mastodon will remain the media's darling as they remain predominantly positioned towards one spectrum of the political isle. On Mastodon, I regularly see more, far leftist Ideology and propaganda than I even ever had on Twitter. Incredible echo chambers with the Fediverse. And I consider myself a centrist. So, to experience what I'd consider "extreme" forms of Liberalism has been eye-opening. In contrast, Nostr is a balance of mostly centrist, AnCaps and right wing. Little to no leftists and Marxists/Leninists here. Mix in the love of Bitcoin and it's easy to see why one side would be more critical and dismissive of Nostr than that of Mastodon as it already supports their subscribed world view.

hes right
if you are on a mastadon server you always trust the server dictator and you dont have redundancy like with a good relay setup
It’s kind of a sad and lonely place from my experience using it.
My questions: How’s it a business? How do they make money?

Simple. By licensing your products so it creates value for you, and voila, revenue enhancement until understanding the value of the intelligence.
It’s not a quick fix though as it take time.
My dude, I want some of what you’re smoking.
