The #Bitkey, as a physical object, is wonderful. It is obvious care and attention has been paid to the design and construction. https://i.nostr.build/Ro2A.jpg It is heavy for its size, and perfectly balanced, which gives it a great hand feel. The top surface feels like polished stone, and has a slight 3 sided pyramidal shape. Only the fingerprint reader and a USB-C port stand out from the smoothness. The LED at the peak of the pyramid is hidden until activated by a touch of the fingerprint reader, and even on close inspection it is difficult to see when off. The seam between the top and the metal plate is almost imperceptible. The metal bottom cover has a matte finish, and the name is embedded with a glossy texture. It reminds me of the back of an old timepiece, giving it the feel of a pocket watch. tl;dr Physically the device is great. Feels good, looks good 🪨 I am still learning about & playing with the software, and working with support to get some stuff wirking. My experience with the support team so far has been 5 star 👍 Once I get more notes I will post a review of the software as well!

What would one use it for? Would you say it is a "want" rather than a "need"? Would you qualify it as an essential piece of hardware? [814200]
It's the hardware component of the Bitkey wallet. Physically holds one of the keys to secure your bitcoin. bitkey.build
Yeah, I'm with you. That being said, I don't think this has someone like me as a target demographic. I can see the utility for a lot of people though. I worked IT support for a decade, and 90% of the people I assisted couldn't keep a password under control. This makes easy recovery possible in case of a lost device or phone, helping those who don't have the technical or organization skills necessary. I think systems and devices like this are necessary to get bitcoin to billions of users. That's why I'm excited I get to help test and give feedback.
