The widespread implementation of NIP-57 signifies the end of anonymous zaps. In a way, it was good to received sats without knowing who sent them. But I guess that’s still possible if we use the LNURL button in the profiles

But Snort got Anon zap option, right ?
Not sure, I need to try it

Yeah, it's good for those who wanna show and and know who sent them and whom it got sent to. I still love anonymity though. I don't know

Yeah we can send and receive anonymously with LNURL. It’s still anonymous if we use a pseudonym though. If I send you sats, you don’t know who I am. We can now buy and sell without KYC because the only thing you actually know about me is my npub, but NIP-57 offers proof of payment.

same here. Seeing who zapped does push virtue signalling behaviors, which I would assume current Nostrichs are not too fond of.
I get that, we’re all anonymous here. What I mean is, we now know the npub/account. It was good to receive sats without knowing it too. Just the general mystery
Well put!

Yeah that was fun, and we can still do that. I don’t think you can zap with just a regular LNURL though. But I can tip you, and you wouldn’t know it came from me. I think NIP-57 is exactly what was spoken about in the Crypto Anarchist Manifesto. We will create a new economy where nobody knows their customer, but we are still able to trade. That’s how it should be.
Trying to send you some sats but WoS is not loading for me. Stress test ongoing ⚡️
I appreciate it 🙏🏻 😂 WoS has been acting crazy all night. They secretly gave us NIP-57, so zaps have been flying around all night.
I got it 🫂

Snort permits to send anon zaps and plain ln too, directly from the post. I like to have this option, I suppose it will be the standard.
Good to know, thanks
thanks for the zap, appreciated 😎

Does the zap button on the profile not show who sent it?
You are welcome :) I have to dig the tech part of anon zaps, by NIP-57 the event contains a signature so I suppose Snort simply uses burn keys to decouple the user from the zap. #[3] #[4] any hint?
Kieran @Kieran - 2y
Yep random keys are generated and the zap is tagged as "anon" so we know not to expect a profile
I don’t think so
Right, thanks for the details, Kieran
