do you have a source on them printing that money vs using "non-printing" balance sheet means to do so?
> "Financial analyst Lyn Alden counters that the Fed is simply reinvesting proceeds from maturing bonds to prevent rapid balance-sheet shrinkage." that's not money printing. its still QE, but this is different than an expansion of the money supply, I'm pretty sure.

So wait did the Fed have $40B of an asset and a liability that were about to expire, and then create a new asset and liability to match it, or did they net increase assets, or did they net increase liabilities? The auction is just for the Treasury to issue bonds right, not the Fed?
It would be nice if people understood what they were talking about, as well as cared to understand whether this was a change from expected behavior.
> It would be nice if people understood what they were talking about You are asking a lot :)
True! Lol
Is it QE if you're just avoiding shrinkage? :thinkguy_sm: https://media.tenor.com/_34dVgmss-cAAAAC/i-was-in-the-pool-shrinkage.gif nostr:nevent1qqsvasks0pedhym0m8xnstglnt2yarf4hvd7wf23jm705f4ds7zaetgzwer32 https://media.tenor.com/y-xPU5IHG98AAAAC/it-shrinks-seinfeld.gif #QE #Fed #EndTheFed #memestr
