This is great amazing thanks for this feature. Dumb noob question but would it be possible to plug all the Umbrel relays on the I2P/Tor networks to build an alternative network of relays ? I’ve heard that it is maybe not really cautious to connect a Bitcoin/LN node directly to internet but if you don’t have funds on it and just a regular Bitcoin node running, it could allow plebs to easily set up nostr (even paid) relays ?

we recommend installing Tailscale on your Umbrel and your devices so your clients can connect to your relay even when you're not on your local network. if you enable Tailscale's MagicDNS, you can just use ws://umbrel:4848 as your Relay URL

But is it supposed to work locally without tailscale? Damus shows a yellow dot in front of umbrel.local relay and on browser I see an un caught syntax error in JS console.
Ahhh figured it out, Damus defaults to “wss” protocol but umbrel.local is not secure

Yeah, I’m confused… shouldn’t have to use Tailscale for local. I installed on umbrel, added relay to Damus. Shows as yellow, and no events showing on umbrel relay.. Anyone?

Try disconnect your vpn and go on your local Wifi?
- We download Tails to Umbrel - give them an email - Connect our Umbrel and our iPhone - And then add wss://umbrel:4848 to Damus? What steps am I missing?
can you double check to make sure the relay URL starts with “ws://“ and not “wss://“?
just change your relay URL to ws://umbrel:4848 (not wss://) and you’ll be all set 🤙
