For me, I know nothing about the energy and mining business, and no idea how taproot works!

I couldn’t inspect the code to ensure only 21 million bitcoins are possible. I’m relying on smarter people than me to verify it
I checked, it's true
Thanks 🙏

Do you run a plain Bitcoin Core node?
No but I plan to start running one this year

https://blog.lopp.net/how-is-the-21-million-bitcoin-cap-defined-and-enforced/ Only five lines of code. Really worth the time to read it yourself. Then pick the next bitcoin thing you've never done and do that. If it scares and intimidates you a little, even better.
You can run a pruned version on your computer right now 🤙 https://bitcoincore.org/ This allows you to verify the supply, and use various interfaces alongside it to make the journey through self custody easier, Specter.solutions & Sparrow Wallet

Yes. It reminds me of the pencil example from Milton Friedman’s Free to Choose series. No single Individual has the skills, knowledge, and resources to produce a pencil on their own.
I don’t know much about the energy and the mining industry either, but I do know that more energy equals better quality of life. Check out the book “Fossil Future” from Alex Epstein. It’s mind blowing. Energy is everything.
