do i happen to have any japanese 🇯🇵 folks following me? had a discussion about how difficult would it be for a foreigner to fit into the community over there? i'd imagine it'd be a bit easier when i spoke some proper japanese, but with just english i don't think so

this is correct. the first few years are just learning to live in Japan. but the longer you live there the more you understand they would feel more comfortable if you just left. you're never accepted.
