Real quick: What are the best Android clients people are using? Helping a friend. Is there maybe an Android-specific Nostr guide somewhere? I think that would be beneficial, just seeing the lots of people saying Nostr is hard to use on Android.

Amethyst is the one I see most people talk about. Not sure about a specific guide. Also warn them that there is a knock off โDamusโ app in the android store but itโs not the real Damus. Jb55 posted about it a couple days ago.

Iris imo is better.

+1 Amethyst. But Nostros is still in competition, worth a try as well: https://github.com/KoalaSat/nostros

Amethyst currently is in the play store, so that's generic. But Be careful to use 2 clients simultaneously. I have run into the big where you lose your follower list. Twice. Aargh.

weโre getting pretty close to public alpha for Plasma. maybe #[2] can hook you up with the latest test build? ๐

Thanks.. I am the friend Tatum is trying to help. I am on Amethyst, it is unstable for me and logs me off every time I am on the DM screen. ,,,,,๐

Amethyst works for me. Sometimes it is not responding, but most of the time it run just fine.
I've never had that happen, but whenever I get issues like that I just delete and redownload. I haven't found a better android option and amethyst isn't perfect, but spending time to get used to it's quirks makes it easier to deal with. It's worth your time investment
Thanks #[5] yes - doing the work .. spending time figuring it out....

i'm personally using the iris.to app simply because of its almost-free-of-spam global feed, thing that i didn't find within amethyst

I've found that's usually an issue with relays more than it is with Amethyst. Have you tried deleting your relays and adding them back in one at a time until you find the stability killer?
Is that the best way to go through relays? I've just been deleting them based off the stats they provide about them
For this instance it might be the best just to troubleshoot. This sounds like one of the relays he's using isn't sending back the expected dataformat and causing the app to crash. If you're just looking for most performant then looking at stats might not be a bad way to slim them down.

Have you tried Iris?
On Android? Not a huge fan of the desktop experience
