📣 Announcement: The Cashu dot Me web wallet is moving! This is a slow-rolling announcement that I'll make only on nostr for now 💜. No need to act fast. ## Background I'm sunsetting the Cashu wallet on LNbits and moving the project over to its own deployment. It will be easier to maintain and to collaborate with other devs. The wallet has been extracted into its own Quasar/Vue project and parts were rewritten. This is great news! It has new features and a better UI. I will be only working on the new wallet in the future. Try it out and let me know what you think! I will re-announce this another 100 times. - For those who want to wait, I will add a very simple "export your tokens to the new wallet" button to the old wallet soon, so it'll be a very simple one-click UX. - If you had the old wallet installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA), you can uninstall it after emptying your wallet. Install the new one as a PWA to enjoy a native mobile app experience. It's going to have all the new features! If you are a new Cashu user, you don't have to do anything :) Simply enjoy your near-perfect privacy and help us imagine what a cypherpunk future with ecash for Bitcoin will look like.

Nope, the backup is a "dumb" one that applies to only the current state (a bit like Lightning). However, we have figured out how to use deterministic secret generation in Cashu which means that future wallets will have only one seed that you need to back up and your tokens can then be reconstructed from that seed. Will be a *huge* improvement for UX and that's where I'll start recommending it to normies.
