if you're not using Twitter this month...try some different nostr clients. Just remember to keep your nsec (secret key) safe, by using a browser extention (nostore testflight on safari, nos2x or alby on Chrome) or a native app you trust.

Is Alby trustworthy? No developer verification, and also asks to communicate with other apps outside of browser

Do you have a recommended favorite client at this point outside of Damus?

The whole “enter your private key to login” situation is very clunky ux because we try to teach people never to enter their private key into an internet connected device for cold storage…

Shame. Shame to everywhere you go and I see you there will be shame!

I've found nos2x to not work on Firefox. I have to use a Chrome based browser for web #Nostr. Anyone have any luck on Firefox?

Yes, with more and more clients, many unfamiliar apps will paste your data by default, and I wonder if it's a good idea to offer users a two-factor authentication option, like Google CaptCha.

Using Damos on iOS so far. Do you have suggestions for a good desktop client?
Thanks #[1] !

This is the way.

To use other clients you have to enter your nsec to post notes, so the recommendation is to use a browser extension to authenticate your nsec with the new clients? I'm assuming the browser extension takes your nsec from an initial client (i.e.-snort) and authenticates the new client. Am I seeing this correctly?🧐🧐🧐

what do you mean it asks to communicate with other apps? the permission for connecting to Tor nodes? Alby is open source and any such app must be for that reason open source. We do our best, but if you want, read the code :)
The app requested me permissions for "communicating with cooperating native applications". If I'm being totally honest, I just don't trust it enough to guarantee this kind of permission. Also, I'm not literate enough about extensions and permissions to take action without due diligence
Browsers support communicating with native applications that are specifically configured, which means you first would have to install and configure the Alby companion app and then Alby can communicate with that one and only that one. Password manages use this for example also. In Alby this is required to be able to connect to nodes behind Tor (which browser directly don't do) Extensions can not just communicate with any app and if you don't configure the native app then it can not communicate with anything. You can check the browser docs for this if you want. it's just how browsers work. You can also configure the Browser to enable Alby only on specific sites: https://guides.getalby.com/overall-guide/alby-browser-extension/faqs/how-to-enable-alby-only-on-specific-websites but yeah, maybe it's then not for you :)
