Indeed we are fucked. For a decision of self-defense under German law, two conditions must be met: first, there must be a present, unlawful attack, and second, the defensive action must be necessary and proportionate to repel the attack. So the court could examine whether the resident attempted to hide, disarm the intruder, or eliminate the danger in some other way 🤡
