What you think about this theory? With the start of social media, many readers were flooded with new information sources. There were very little people, who were aware of the different quality from whatever influencer to a reputable newspaper. Therefore many users tend to share information with almost no filter. With spreading concerns about des- and misinformation, more people learn about the importance of fact-checking, reputation of sources and searching for more sources to see if a story is probably true or not before sharing with everyone. This adaption together with the isolation of information sources, that regularly create and share false information, we adapt our defenses as a society, to find the true bits in the flood of information. So even when we are not at the goal today. I think it gets more normal, that kids learn factchecking in schools and generations who do not seem to know factchecking will die year after year. So maby the filter of time will cure our societies from the desinformation flood. And until we are totally cured many incidents will occure, where desinformation and misinformation will have bad effects on our society.
