not sure why i haven’t done this before. Trying out a random macro and calorie tracking app. I took the nutrient pdf from a restaurant i frequent and put in all the data. I can see exactly all of the macros and calories. Then i can use chatgpt to suggest modifications. No longer do i have to guess why i’m not losing weight or feeling tired. Just use data and tools. https://i.nostr.build/6DN3Cn4mJUKZAeE9.png https://i.nostr.build/HnR3aU7eNC2zFvQL.jpg https://i.nostr.build/cKRnh1kaKSTVl8nU.png
indeed
That seems like a lot, don’t you only need like 1g per kg of body weight
I guess that’s minimum

oops i need like 2x as much as im getting while cutting… *buys protein powder*
most people just need to pay attention to what they put in their body.

like what?
who would you trust
I doubt it’s that, it’s just easy for alcohol to wipe out progress. That’s why explicitly counting these things with an app makes it obvious how much you are blowing your budget with bad habits.
genuinely curious why you think this is “wrong” when weight loss is literally just maintaining a calorie deficit. What exactly is wrong about explicitly tracking this to make sure you maintain the deficit?

such a bizarre statement. I just see it as a tool to maintain a calorie deficit
To me this is like saying “tape measures are a scam when building a building” sure you could just wing the measurements but when things start falling over and you don’t know why… for me calorie counting is just a way to diagnose why i’m not losing weight that fast. A data driven approach is useful for a brain like mine. I like to see numbers, stats, health bars. If i fast all day and eat 3000 calories in one meal then i still won’t lose weight. Not to mention your maintenance calories changes with your weight… i don’t see how you can just wing it and expect progress.
right… so how is having no data on what your ingesting help diagnose problems ? seems like counting calories and macros explicitly helps you here
well thats just because its a reasonable macronutrient and calorie profile. you don’t have to explicitly track it if you’re disciplined enough (i’m not)
for me counting calories has made me realize how little room there is for unhealthy foods and alchohol to maintain a deficit, so it has helped me in that regard. If it pushes you to healthy eating via data then whats the problem?
Maybe people think i’m talking about “just tracking calories “, most apps are not that dumb. They track macronutrients as well (protein, fats, carbs, sodium, vitamins).
Or maybe food is so bad in america that when people say calorie counting by itself is a scam, which would make more sense.
jb55 @jb55 - 19h
I think its a cultural thing in america where it was maybe sold as a trend but the food is so bad that it didn’t work for most people if they were solely tracking calories and nothing else. I dunno man
jb55 @jb55 - 16h
I definitely don't

only idiot believe everything chatgpt says, you take it with a grain of salt like any advice from anyone
