I'm planning to remove coracle's public chat soon, it's not a core goal of the project and is missing a lot of the moderation features other parts of the application have. I'm going to move it to its own domain, any anyone is free to take over the code base if they want. Am I making a mistake? Is public chat essential to a good nostr client? Let me know if you use it constantly and will hate me for this change.

I don't think it's important as long as standalone apps like nostrchat.io keep getting updated and worked on.

Could you include a link to a dedicated nostr chat site?
I will for a while, but I'll remove it after regular users have a chance to find out about the new link.

I like the all-in-one clients, I like interact on Nostr with no necessary to change constantly between clients searching a concret feature to use. Also, each client have a different relay management and I always need to review and configure it before use. I like how Coracle do this using the NIP-65. Bad move in my opinion

It's essential for Amethyst. Chats provide a sense of community for newcomers that kind1s can't do. But maybe coracle finds it's own way of welcoming new users.

日本人ユーザーはパブリックチャットを使っているようだけど、ぼくは必要ないと思う。人が増えれば荒されて機能しなくなるんじゃないかと思う。
The goal is to connect with people you already know in real life or some other true community. So, invite codes with social graph information built in, as one potential solution.
