Incompetence can be more dangerous than malice. 🤦♀️ nostr:note152u0lamw2rduv9m6dy9akdjfqhrh80kj2fkqm59ku2czhutz8qrqju3pxe
I'm loving the hobo student life, but sometimes I see stuff like this and feel bad for not working. It's so hard to not feel like I'm letting people down. People have their lives ruined or even die after stuff like this. I just offered a job to tighten up data security at the state registry office and turned it down and they got a bit hysterical because they can't find anyone and have all these old systems and are drowing in data, but I get so tired of everyone expecting me to do everything and guilt-tripping me. 😭 Where are the other analysts? Why does stuff like this ever happen? I don't understand. I just don't understand.
Personal data should never be saved in a leakable format. Just as leaking code shouldn't make your software more hackable.
This stupid shit makes me want to tear my eyeballs out. OMG how can you be that fucking stupid? GN.

Good night nostr:npub1m4ny6hjqzepn4rxknuq94c2gpqzr29ufkkw7ttcxyak7v43n6vvsajc2jl It gets better with time, sleep, and copious amounts of weed or alcohol.
Schnapps and a novel, and I'll be good. 🫂
Feels like being an emergency room doc on vacation and hearing an ambulance siren.

I am kind of an IT Boomer because I started working in the 90s, so I learned all of the old stuff. It's getting harder and harder to find someone who's dealt with live COBOL mainframes or PowerBuilder systems, for instance, or databases with a Basic front-end.
I don't have a college degree, tho, so they never offer me enough to make it worthwhile for me to do the work. We pay so many income taxes and if I earn too much money, I have to pay income tax in the States on top of the German taxes. Guess they don't really need it done, so I'll stay home and bake cake, instead.
Ha ha. Just realized that's probably the reason why I think so much about core processing efficiency and scalability and such. Younger people just hack some stuff together and tell everyone to buy the newest iPhone to run it on and they're done. I'm like... very nice. Impressive. Snazzy. Now imagine there are 5 million people using that... simultaneously.
It doesn't actually help much to move the bottleneck closer and closer to the end user and away from the server. It just shifts the burden and shrinks the potential userbase. You still, at some point, have to write to some connection.
😂 Hey, I'm not THAT old. We did have printers with endless paper, like this, and it was a nightmare trying to get things to align.
I guess it was an in-between thing for a telegraph.
I'm only focused on Nostr. I haven't really thought that much about Bitcoin blocksize.
The lesson from Samourai is that we are all doing risky things, now. Even just relaying the information dumbly, is now sus.
