I know I'm not alone in what I am about to share but I have been thinking about it and am still unsure. As a bitcoiner I have learnt "Don't Trust, Verify" and I stick to it without exception. The concern I have is this nip 57 and I am yet to decide if I want to follow through and integrate with it. My number one problem with it is telegram. I don't like telegram and am very wary of using it. I am not tech savvy enough to know what kind of data would be associated with a telegram a/c, a potential lnbits wallet and also to my nostr profile. If anyone can share facts on that aspect, please do. Why isn't it possible to have access to lnbits outside of using telegram to do it? 😊
I'm going to be a bit pushy with this. Is anyone aware of the issues telegram was having relating to the uprising in hk? DDOS type attacks on telegram and the ability of authorities to "hack" into telegram and obtain users phone numbers? I love the innovation of this nip 57 but I am concerned about introducing an extra potential "weak spot" in terms of security/anonymity when adding on this telegram layer. Am I to assume that everyone who has adopted nip 57 has verified and not trusted?

What does NIP 57 have to do with telegram?
I'm trying to understand this myself so I hope my note doesn't come across as if I am criticising something about which I don't have full knowledge. As far as I can see the lightning tip bot is based in telegram and I imagine that many of the nostr users have now set up their "zapping" ability using that telegram setup. Is it the only way to setup that ability? I understand that nip 57 is a way of showing receipts for the payments made and may not be in of itself related to telegram but, and I may be totally wrong and happy to be corrected, looking at both https://github.com/LightningTipBot/LightningTipBot and https://www.massmux.com/howto-complete-lightningtipbot-lnbits-setup-vps/ telegram is featured in both. Again I want to point out I'm not criticising, I'm trying to verify whether a user has the ability to set up and integrate with "zapping" without using telegram.

Seems getalby just went full 57 so I didn't really have a choice ! I'm fiddling around with my own new ln node right now because I want more control of my lightning use so I've got a lot of learning going on. 😅

any of those is non-custodial? Why would you use your own node’s lightning address and make it public in your nostr profile? Wouldn’t you be compromising privacy?

anyone know how to go about doing this on a sovereign stack? ie. my node and my own ln address tied to that…
No self custody solutions support NIP-57 yet as far as I'm aware. Once BTCPay Server adds support, I'll go back to hosting my own Ln address with that software.

The neat part is if you're concerned about privacy, you don't have to use these or link wallets and profiles together.
