i've started writing a signer-bunker GUI app using https://www.cogentcore.org/core/ it's a simple thing and will have builds for all common platforms, linux, windows, mac, android and ios it uses a cleaned up version of fiatjaf's bunker code, which will be interfaced to be controlled by the GUI to set signing policies and whatnot i was trying to work with gio but man that UI library is confusing, cogent is nicer, i can't make it a pretty material interface and cogend doesn't really have much in the way of animations but it's simple and functional i will also be using it to build a UI for #realy to set configurations and eventually to expose all the HTTP interfaces a bit like a swagger/openapi docs page/app i can see myself at some point later also building a kind 1 app and a chat client with it as well, but i gotta start with simple stuff because there is a lot to learn cogent core is extremely simple though, i got some basic app built in a matter of an hour from scratch

unfortunately it's unstable and poorly documented, i'm thinking, fuck this, i wrote a perfectly good GUI toolkit out of gioui.org 4 years ago and probably all i need to do is update the code parts that interact with the system's input and graphics output, and reuse my code, albeit with probably some improvements, but i know that damn library works, and frankly first priority is to just get something working it's very disappointing how hard it is to write web and mobile apps with Go, the best libraries i see have all kinds of showstoppers and it's very disappointing because especially Gio, i have made a really nice kit for it... so fuck it, i'm gonna use it, especially as back then it was running on android and ios just fine

i am switching to https://fyne.io but unfortunately it has still got a lot of stuff to get to full maturity (like the ctrl-delete/backspace undo bug i found, and actually fixed sized windows) however our man @mattn (not sure why jumble doesn't find his npub) has written this https://github.com/mattn/tailscale-systray so, i will be using this to add a system tray icon for bunk, the name i'm giving to the bunker, which will allow me to sorta wiggle past the limitations of fyne by triggering appear/disappear of the bunk window. probably will do a lot more things with it later but i'm aiming to try and build an MVP with minial features that actually achieves me having a working nostr bunker signer on linux desktop (i'm not even gonna bother to try and support windows at the moment) as well as an android/ios version, later, with my main target for it to just blanket accept all signing requests no matter kind and become minimally usable as a replacement for a browser signer like alby extension for this use case. i'm kinda having trouble pushing myself to focus hard on this but probably once i have that MVP (sans systray) i'll feel more focused. baby steps.
