Apple Watch. For cycling the phone doubles as a bike computer. Easier to check than the watch on the wrist. They added this feature a year or two ago. If the phone is in range of the watch when you start a cycling training, the bike computer live activity pops up on screen

Apple health data is encrypted and store on device. Only goes to the cloud if you enable it (encrypted as well). Garmin watches are good too but don’t offer the same level of privacy. I find the ring thing not as good. Getting the heart rate from the finger is less accurate and the pricing model became super predatorial. Whoop is encrypted but I don’t like the subscription aspect.
The oura ring was a one time fee before. Then they added fitness features and saw whoop as their main competitor so they started the subscription. Expensive ring + sub is crazy. Same. It’s less predatory. And you own the device.
Might have to skip up to 5 days in the beginning of the month though 👀
