Another day of being reminded of how useless I am, as a construction worker.

Play to your strengths and pay other people to do what theyβre good at.
Construction. House renovation. Not because I'm incompetent, but because I can't keep up with the guys. I don't know how they work so fast. I'm in awe. It looks so effortless, when they do it. How is that a thing? I tried to keep up, but just ended up lying on the floor, despondent, and they sent me home. Can't even raise my arms, anymore.
Respect. I'm good at anything requiring someone close to the ground, able to crawl into small niches, or with little fingers. Yeah. So. That's about it.
I've been doing this for weeks, tho.
The guys are like you said: They get faster and faster and hardly seem to notice the effort, anymore. But I'm just getting run down and ground into powder.
I actually am the one doing the plumbing because it's so fiddly and stuff. He stands behind me, with a flashlight, "A little to the left..., okay, now get the wrench..."
That they keep getting faster just makes me feel worse about it. They're like giant building machines. And they keep accidentally stepping on me. ππ
Yeah, I gave up plastering and painting because I was just getting on their nerves, and do the taping and edgework, but they are so fast, now, that I can't stay ahead. I'm like a speed bump. π I'll be so glad, when this is over.
I was taping up the kitchen and they painted a whole floor. I just can't, anymore. I'm just done. Ugh. Feel ridiculous.
And I was using a ladder and standing on the countertops and nearly fell off and they were like, umm, Stand aside, and then finished the rest, just by reaching up and it's like, I nearly killed myself trying to do that. π OMG that was so fucking scary.
Takes 4 evah.
I tell myself that they're only so fast because I taped and covered everything so precisely, but I still cried. π Feels like I'm being overrun by a herd of rhinocerous with paint rollers.
I can't even tape the top of the doors without a ladder. I must be like 5'2", now. No joke.
Ugh, just no. Glad I learned to code. I am definitely not Bobette the Builder.
It feels like I'm not even doing anything, but I'm exhausted.
We just found out that the guys hide stuff from us girls, in plain sight, by putting them on the top shelf of the closet, so we put all the Christmas cookies on the bottom shelf.
We had to get a special oven, with a retracting door, because it's mounted at countertop level and a folding door would be at face-height for us.
No way. π
And the guys have to bend over, to use the sink or the countertops, so they're always cutting things at the bar. π
I used to downhill ski, but it makes me whoozy, now.
Oh, the others usually watch it.
4 Chancentournee is next week, right?
It's called the "Four Chances".
