I get an uncanny rage when I see such fundraisers. Not, of course, towards the wonderfully brave Tina and her desperate mother. A rage towards the state that leaves these people alone. A rage towards all those people who, without batting an eye, squander billions in tax money on weapons and surveillance systems, a rage that such hardship cases increasingly depend on the goodwill of the general public. Any system that does not save its children is doomed to perish. It lacks the moral and structural integrity to survive in the long term. Are you planning to buy a coffee tomorrow? Or a sandwich?
