i just wrote some code that gathers all of the relay lists (including DM relay lists) of all my follows and there was 1047 distinct relays, but lots of duplicates with some having `/` at the end so i wrote a thing to trim those off as well oh God and then it encounters ones that have got embedded whitespace in them after the damn >_< ws prefix *sigh* how does this shit get in there, client devs, are you seriously that retarded? continuing... removing the ones with ? in them (mostly nostr wine) and ... finally 797 relays just in the list of people on my test relay, which i probably fed data from nostrudel database so it gathered most people's relay lists because it supports nip-65 anyway, that's just a sample of about 10k users, at max two hamming distance from me in the graph i would guess i'm gonna find that once it grabs all the relevant relay events from all of those of the remaining users whose relay events i don't already have, it will be more like 1500 relays what was that about centralization i was hearing 6 months ago or so, people complaining about nostr centralizing, yeah, nope

also a little more data, those 797 relays are used by 595 users out of the 10k in my second degree social graph

yeah, easy to understand is definitely the goal in all of my architecture thinkings that's why my new proposed nip-79 Nostr Relay Chat is extremely simple and doesn't make any prescriptions about storing instant messages - because that is client side and administrator side stuff, it should not be in the protocol by separating these different domains you build more secure, robust systems this is a core principle of Domain Driven Design - a philosophy that i pretty much practise, it is just logical to me, a natural elaboration beyond the "worse is better" principle

it's a good subject to know something about... unfortunately not enough people have had enough experience in dev to even have developed any intuitions about architecture, i'm about 5 rodeos in... so much pain comes from wrong architecture
