i think that is part of it but actually these days i find i prefer to have the espresso and then a little alcohol not long after, and then in the late afternoon i'm just cruising until bedtime.
sugar complicates these things a lot. due to various data points i have gathered, my preference now is 1L milk and 137.5 ml of vodka, maybe ablosut 40% is a bit overkill, probably smirnoff 37.5 is just a little less warming but adequate. lactose is a relatively mild, and somewhat partially digested simple sugar, and has a big advantage that it doesn't feed anything except lactobacillus.
even yesterday, i had some popcorn, and my half busted bottom right wisdom tooth was elevated and hurty. ok today, just popcorn. when it's maltodextrin it can be swollen up for several days. sugars are all different, you probably have heard of the FODMAPS diet, this is about eliminating certain kinds of known allergenic and dysbiotic sugar types. i personally also have a strong suspicion that part of this is related to tiny amounts of toxic proteins caused by GMO.
