A good 5 years ago, installer suggested a heatpump with wi-fi and a phone app. I said "no, my heat pump is not going on the Internet. I am not going to manage another computer that needs updates all the time just to have a heat pump. Worse yet if it never gets updates."

People still really haven't appreciated how bad the car thing is. Or the phone thing. They think they do, but they don't. Privacy is nothing but a myth in this day and age. Unless you are living in a cabin in the woods with no electricity and you hiked there from 10 miles away.
