there is no similarity between #Bitcoin and #Linux there was an open source unix for a long time, it was called BSD and it was built by students and postgrads at Berkeley University there was numerous other open source operating systems over the years too. Bell Labs Plan 9, for example... Niklaus Wirth's Oberon guess who is the biggest funder of Linux development these days? just one guess, and if you don't know, then don't go talking about how it's anything like bitcoin

My system configuration had a problem with a particular package sometime between now and the 16th, but using git I was able to track down precisely which source was causing the problem and then with a little googling I was able to find which app was broken and update the rest of the way. This is a power that #Nixos has given me that I never had all those years running Ubuntu. I know it's possible to instruct that particular app to pull from the older source, but I'm not there yet. #linux

I would implore people to get a low end server, learn some #Linux, and just roll your own. It takes more effort but you get updates from the developers quicker and I bet it's much more stable. Also you don't have to be #Tor only.

if you are looking for a better linux, i can definitely recommend this: https://zorin.com/os/ the main reason it caught my attention is that it supports my crispy fresh new RX 7800 XT - fully - although what it installs adds an "upgrade" kernel that b0rked the result... but it loads off the live usb with proper credentials on the video output not just llvmpipe framebuffer #linux #os #foss

the first rule of ubuntu is: do not upgrade the kernel the second rule of ubuntu is: DO NOT UPGRADE THE KERNEL the third rule of ubuntu is: remove kernel metapackages and enable the menu in /etc/default/grub setting it to menu timeout mode and put a nice 10 second delay so if THE KERNEL IS UPGRADED at least it is not hard for you to either pick the old working one or go to the UEFI bios #ubuntu #devstr #linux #pain
