My son woke up shouting in the middle of the night last night. I went into his room to see what was wrong and he told me “I need jelly, I want jelly dad.”
We have had many peanut butter breakdowns before but this was the first time that jelly was the craving.
I told him that it was the middle of the night and that jelly was not on the menu, however, we could have jelly tomorrow.
It didn’t take.
He shouted “jelly! I need it.”
We went back and forth for awhile, and we were both getting exasperated.
Finally, I told him “do you know everyone else that is sleeping right now?”
“Yes,” he said looking at me, perplexed.
“Well,” I said, “we can be jelly of them.”
He smiled at me and said “nice one, dad!” Then he gave me a high five, and laid down and was asleep in seconds.
