It works! Had to manual enable Notification in Android Settings -> Notifications -> Apps -> Amethyst. Very good. Thanks

Yes and no. You can host your own push server. Nextcloud has one and there is a popular one called gotify. You could use pushbullet but that would be a non-self hosted option. End of the day though the client you're using has to support alternative push methods and most dont.

There a trick to get this? Instead of update, play store says open. Am on 0.44
Get the "playstore" version from GitHub or wait for next release in the actual playstore 🤙

Some people need to activate it in settings first. For me it worked out of the box
