Absolutely right! Running your own Bitcoin node and lightning node is an important step towards supporting truly decentralized blockchain technology. If I had a better data connection I would absolutely be running a node. Hopefully some day soon.
It definitely helps to have unlimited data and a stable connection.

Doesn't the umbrel relay only work for iOS based Damus?
Nope. I use it with Amethyst myself.
