I remember Lopp's critiques. My impression was that of a man trying his hardest to disagree with something he didn't want to understand, written by someone he didn't like. You have to have a very empty cup, so to speak, to digest a 400 page theory that is actually grounded exclusively in first principles. Meaning all your prior knowledge must be set aside while you work to understand the novel theory. Though, my opinions about the theory itself are deferred until I complete the audio book recording. It's a deep dive that's worth sinking your teeth into after all. And reading the whole thing aloud is great for that.
