Slipping into your bitcoin-only feed with some NOSTR normie content. The Northern Lights were on display in the lower 48 last night. It's only the second or third time (that I know of) that they've been visible from our house. Usually they're only green this low, but last night was something special. Perhaps a result of our unusually cold and snowy April, as it's typically much warmer by now. I got to see an epic display in Portage, Alaska in 2010, date I say, this was better.... 👀 https://i.imgur.com/V1ZL1mh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Mo3aqi3.jpg https://i.imgur.com/WXk1hBc.png The aurora borealis forecast center in Anchorage, AK had last night listed as "moderate" and tonight is listed as "high ++", so I'm hoping for some epic viewing from remote, lower 48 spots tonight. A great reason to head for the mountains with little or no light pollution. "Very intense aurora often has a purple rim at the bottom. The purple results from a mixture of blue and red emissions from nitrogen molecules." Second pic is from Sundance Resort, about 35 miles south of me, taken from their webcam.

Beautiful. Jealous you can see this in your own backyard.

I saw them last night in Wyoming. There was a slight haze to the north, so it was very dim and hard to see with the naked eye, but I got some good pictures. With the naked eye we could only see a flickering green glow. With my camera, I could see the reds.
