Why are they bottlenecks?
They're the only two large implementations of their particular type. Njump is an HTML viewer and there are multiple online instances. Band is running statistics and an API and some clients have their stuff integrated, so if they go down, features freeze up. Because they are a big aggregator by nature of the stats, people like to read from their relay, so when it goes offline, their feeds freeze up. The presence of the big aggregators has also slowed adoption of mailboxes.
