In this case the issue is the security of the work computer. I also hear good things about the new Apple ones. Steeper than Bose but apparently they work well too

It’s not even security. It’s that the Bluetooth protocol only allows 1 active connection per device I think, and a single antenna can only do so much throughput. But with a good chip you could emulate two.
So it was always just marketing?
