gold did pretty well for a few thousand years at between 1-2% annually. but I suggest we err on the side of caution and use something more disinflationary.

(in the above meme the .6 units every 2 minutes refers to the emission schedule of Monero. today that's about .6% supply inflation and that percentage of course decreases with every block)
