Watched Escape from New York (1981), a sci fi action thriller directed by John Carpenter. In the future, Manhattan was repurposed as a maximum security prison. The main character, a convicted criminal, played by Kurt Russel, was given a mission: he has 24 hours to rescue the president because Air Force One crashed on the island. The main character travels through the streets controlled by violent gangs and warlords. The movie is gritty and has a very anti authoritarian theme. The score is amazing: very 80s synth. The movie was enjoyable at times but very slow paced as well. Lee Van Cliff and Kurt Russel are really good in this. Ultimately the movie fell a bit short. 6.5/10 #nodereviews
One of the best parts of this movie. The soundtrack and Lee van cliff saying: “I’m gonna kick your ass out of the world”. Epic line
