You might be a Nostr Elite if... 1) You have over 1000 followers, but only post every couple of days or weeks. 2) You are famous from "someplace else", so you don't feel like you need to prove anything to anyone and expect everyone to recognize you from there. 3) You hardly follow anyone else, who isn't an elite, or your follow list is stale and you don't care. 4) You rarely repost anyone else's stuff or hang out in their threads. 5) You rarely respond to mentions or tags, unless they're from another elite, and you feel put-upon by them. 6) You don't actively search for new npubs to follow or interact with. 7) You mostly repost things you've posted elsewhere. 8) You post things and then only respond for a short time. 9) When someone reposts you, you don't feel curious to find out more about them. 10) You think there is no Nostr Elite.

The saddest thing IMHO is that many of those "elite nostr users" like you call them, are a default follow on #Primal.. Without that, they wouldn't have or grow as bigger in n. Of folower, because on #nostr if you don't actively engage your npub will not be organically visible..
That's how elitism usually works. It's an attention funnel. More people arriving hardly changes who the elites are, it merely adds more people deferring to the same elites. Celebrities are famous for being famous.
But there are actually large npubs who rarely engage. They got a lot of follows when they arrived, and just kept them because most people never curate their list. Also, newbies often copy other people's lists, so they take on and follow those npubs, even if they're not actively engaging.
Absolutely true! I have started to unfollow any hig users that doesn't reply to comments or never boost others..
So true, and Primal first follow list is like free farming for them..
Yeah trending feed is also something I don't like.. easy to fake, and often same people because large follows number and so more replies and reactions.. vicious circle.

What if you’re just here for the LOLs?
Well, they don't actually ask to get on the lists, but being on the list would probably make you lazier.
I notice it, myself. The more followers I have, and the more often I trend, the harder I have to work to stay pleb. So, this list is also a reminder to myself to stay humble.
Every elite has earned their spot in the top 10%. It's the move up to the top 0.1% that is sometimes inexplicable and seems to mostly be a latent network effect, that is self-amplifying, rather than a result of personal effort or ability. That's why elites tend to be above-average, but also surprisingly underwhelming.
That would go some way to explaining why zaps and followers are so oddly concentrated, and so detached from the actual activity within the app. 🤔

Some of them can be found in the primal trending list. But not all of them. 💀 That list is not useful to new users: they need npubs they can interact with (not just one way)
Sort of redundant with 6) 🤔
Some accounts get so big that tagging them becomes complely futile. Like trying to talk to a wall. Try tagging Jack #[4]. 😂
I imagine his notifications like this 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, it's mental state you have to work to avoid. Stay hungry.

Hig, and al my typos, are the proof that I am not a bot 😂😅 *big account
Hey, #[4] can I have a hug?

Obviously, I tailored the list to exclude myself. 😂 0% score, baby!
