It does make sense for Instagram and Facebook and the likes to suspend potentially coaster / bot accounts since you are the product for their advertisers, and they want the best engagement with ads. The same goes for banning discretion. Better off to deal with the situation swiftly and decisively rather than waste resources on it. If you look at their "censorship" behavior strictly from a business point of view, it's easier to go hard and heavy, full hammer, than to spend time figuring things out.

The confusion comes from thinking that the user is the customer.
yep, the advertiser is the customer, and you are the product that needs to be as data-complete as possible so they can target the ads at you and say... look at all these real users and clicks. It's bad business to have a ton of impressions on your ads and no clicks.
