Gm. Woke up thinking about #RossUlbricht The full pardon announcement last night was amazing (and unexpected!), but seeing photos of him actually walking out of prison really hit me. Like many other Bitcoiners, #SilkRoad was my first introduction to #Bitcoin way back in 2011. It was probably the first real use case for Bitcoin, and a perfect example of what Bitcoin was capable of: Permission-less money that no one could censor, no one could stop. I lost more Bitcoin when Silk Road went down that I will *ever* hold again, but I also hold more Bitcoin now than I ever would have – thanks to Ross and Silk Road. Otherwise I may never have heard of ‘magic internet money’ to begin with. I think like many of us, I really identified with Ross when he was arrested. A young, idealistic guy, who probably got in a bit over his head— but who, never once in my mind, wavered from his convictions. Someone who was fully ready to face the consequences and stand up for what he believed in and who managed to withstand the weight placed on his shoulders over the last 12 years. Not only withstood it, but managed to grow and became a better person in spite of it. Thank you Ross for your sacrifice. So glad that he is now free. But let us remember, the “Job’s not Finished” yet. There are still lots of others who have been fighting for freedom, who the justice system has tried to make an example of as well, who still need our help. We are winning, but there is still a long way to go. Bitcoiners have an amazing amount of power, and will only gain more power as time goes on. Let’s remember to use it wisely, practice freedom every day, and fight for all those who don’t have it. #FreeRoss #FreeSamourai #FreePalestine
