I feel bad about doxxing people. Still messaging in hopes it can be resolved privately.

At least an idea worth investigating. AFAIK in the USA and some other countries jewelry and personal effects worn on your body have greater legal protection and are harder (though never impossible) to confiscate.
You can just live in the Nostr circular economy 🫂
I think the quantum threat is wildly overstated by all objective evidence, e.g. they can’t even factor a number higher than a smart 5th grader. But I think we should get a quantum safe address going just so people with STFU about it.
The emptiness of the mempool and number of less than 1 sats/vb transactions is fucking wild
So sorry to hear! Unbelievably frustrating to be stuck with bureaucrats and neighbors with nothing at stake being able to decide what you can do with your own property that doesn’t have any real downside for them.
Best of luck to all of our NYC comrades

Is the only current option manually restoring to the BTC core wallet? Because that would be tough for most users though certainly possible… I’m sure you and Becca would try to exit gracefully but just always good to consider
GM! Bitcoin will die unless it eventually develops a sustained high fee environment. Everyone needs to start getting comfortable that no one is entitled to permanent low fees unless you want Bitcoin to die. Act accordingly.

Yes indirectly in that he assumes complete stasis in both consensus and layer two architecture. meaning if we get CTV+CSFS and ARK gets deployed with those some level of self custody will scale MASSIVELY bigger than he is stating.
I do not mean that. I full disagree with him there. I would say his high level meta ongoing point that I think had validity is some bitcoiners(more the X crowd and not the Nostr crowd) are getting complacent and trusting permanently suboptimal solutions, e.g. custodial solutions are fine for me forever and lets cozy up to the government, etc.
Paul is 100% right…in 2021. He’s wrong in 2025, albeit with some legitimate, albeit rudely and misleadingly put, criticisms. A cautionary tale for us all: BTC moves so fast and changes so much that if you aren’t constantly trying new stuff and updating your mental models, then even if you have many years of experience in BTC you can be grossly inaccurate in your assessment of where it is today and how people are using it.
My grandfather came back from fighting in the US army in the pacific theater of WW2 as a pacifist. He told me nothing was worth the horrors he saw, and that war was mostly rich old men sending poor young men to die. My great grandfather fled WW1 alone as a child after watching soldiers torture his entire family to death. It’s easy to have a black and white view of war when you and your family aren’t the ones dying horrifically.
Buying good with lightning feels like a look into the future. Set Bitcoin aside, this is just a better experience than the broken legacy internet: type email address, scan QR code, click pay, done. Contrast with legacy online shopping where I have to fill out two pages of bullshit and fill out all this credit card data and if I try to use any even mildly privacy preserving options then half the time my order is flagged and canceled and it takes weeks to get a refund. It’s taken a long time to get here, but I’m convinced we eventually win via better UX as the legacy internet just keeps breaking. nostr:nevent1qqs83qgu7dedvtyj8tgrly23z82tua3nypxl42euxq40xctadc4lu5gpndmhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0y5erqamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wd3skuep0y5erqffjxpshvct5v9ez2v3swaehxw309ahx7um5wgh8w6twv5hj2v3sy5erqctkv96xzu39xgc8wumn8ghj7ur4wfcxcetjv4kxz7fwvdhk6te9xgc8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7ffjxpmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctv9u72xw7m

Even setting aside any political/social issue itself, its ethics, and its legality: if your way of getting what you want is to set your local city ablaze then your main accomplishment will be that everyone hates you, doesn’t support your cause, and that you fail long term. It’s just not a smart way to get what you want. Highly counter productive.
👍🏻👍🏻. Hmm, I’ll have to test the new rebranded app. You’re right it’s definitely possible given the hardware, the last time I tried they had just never coded up and actually bothered to add it. Makes me wonder if these old legacy wallets written from scratch on custom scripts such as Blockstream or Unchained will get beaten out by new competitors using stuff like BDK and Rust Bitcoin. Those newer wallets can safely move so much faster and add so much more functionality while these old legacy wallets feel old af and super clunky. Wild with how many people Unchained employs and how long they’ve been around that they only in 2025 enabled Segwit.
I think we need more thought around your “grip” on your keys, aka the strength of your backups in these discussions. At one extreme, No backup = no grip, your key could be lost at any time and you couldn’t do anything about it. At the other extreme, A seed phrase in steel (if singlesig) is an ironclad backup. Bitkey is somewhere more towards the seed phrase end, but still a good ways off of it. There are multiple sources of outside dependencies, e.g. on Block and your Apple/google cloud account. Again it’s a great tradeoff for noobs with a modest stack. But it’s important to not gloss over the massive nuance.
GM! “Seedless is safer” is an attack on Bitcoin
