👍🏻👍🏻. Hmm, I’ll have to test the new rebranded app. You’re right it’s definitely possible given the hardware, the last time I tried they had just never coded up and actually bothered to add it. Makes me wonder if these old legacy wallets written from scratch on custom scripts such as Blockstream or Unchained will get beaten out by new competitors using stuff like BDK and Rust Bitcoin. Those newer wallets can safely move so much faster and add so much more functionality while these old legacy wallets feel old af and super clunky. Wild with how many people Unchained employs and how long they’ve been around that they only in 2025 enabled Segwit.

I think we need more thought around your “grip” on your keys, aka the strength of your backups in these discussions. At one extreme, No backup = no grip, your key could be lost at any time and you couldn’t do anything about it. At the other extreme, A seed phrase in steel (if singlesig) is an ironclad backup. Bitkey is somewhere more towards the seed phrase end, but still a good ways off of it. There are multiple sources of outside dependencies, e.g. on Block and your Apple/google cloud account. Again it’s a great tradeoff for noobs with a modest stack. But it’s important to not gloss over the massive nuance.

GM! “Seedless is safer” is an attack on Bitcoin

*an economic node otherwise it does not affect consensus
I can at least understand noobs finding it scary and not wanting to do it at first, not ideal but got to meet people where they are. But we always just push for interoperability standards and not proprietary recovery methods.

That I think is probably fair. However that also doesn’t mean fraud will never happen generally. If this was universal then no US regulated crypto company would ever blow up. People do dumb shit and take dumb irrationally risks all the time. Just follow nostr:npub1r3kty2vkh247jgdu63wgkcsnktdtp9hc3e962eudg0getgvxs4gsz4uytc
Be very careful out there especially at Bitcoin events and meetups. The number of scammers, thieves, and feds is only going up with price.
There is every financial incentive to overstate your assets and/or understate your liabilities as it makes your company appear more valuable and is difficult for investors to publicly verify. Public audits and independent boards help but aren’t a panacea, e.g. Enron. They had what was considered to be the most independent board and best auditors. Not saying that’s happening here, I do believe they have the Bitcoin, but people need to understand there is always risk if you don’t hold your own keys.

Right as we might start to be having real consensus around CTV + CSFS these insipid debates about nothing keep popping up. Feels suspicious. If you wanted to bring an open decentralized project to a halt this would be a good way to do it.

People who change history are always by definition “weird”. If they were conformists they wouldn’t change anything.
Guys those many years of countless jokes that Bitcoiners are a bunch of socially retarded autists weren’t just jokes, it’s funny because it’s true. Many of the smartest engineers and scientists are socially inept and poor communicators who believe wild shit outside of their core competency. That’s not just Bitcoin, but consistent throughout history. Isaac Newton is one of the greatest scientists ever and his family suppressed his many writings on alchemy and the occult because of how insane it sounded and they didn’t want him to be discredited. In the modern age with social media nothing about people has changed, you’re just now more aware of reality.
Pensions by governments and large employers are largely just fraud to convince workers to accept lower salaries now in exchange for the promise of a higher future payout … which they then underfund and rug you
US needs a constitutional amendment to have a hard cap well below where it is today. This is insane. Government workers are largely parasites
GM! I’m happy to pay in BTC and support BTC only companies. But static pricing in sats is not workable at this stage of adoption. For now we need dynamic pricing based on USD converted into sats. Almost everyone is still earning in USD and even when everyone gets paid in BTC, the amount of sats will likely decline over time. Expecting me to pay 40%+ more than a few months back when the good or service is essentially unchanged is a poor value proposition.

Likely increasing the pro cyclical effect miners have had (buying in bull and selling in bears)

GM! A few months into Strike Bill Pay + Privacy.com to pay all bills and online purchases. Conclusion: pretty great and will keep using. I would love for BTC direct payment to become more widespread, but until then I think this is the best sovereignty minded personal finance combo out there.
Here for it 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah you can always make a fair argument either way. However I think a new device with zero real world track record and whose features are still being developed and are ESP32 based should probably be cheaper. At least to start until all features are done and they have proven out more. If it’s this versus coldcard MK4,l for basically the same cost, I find this a tough sell until the Frost benefits prove out in the wild over time.
