Bloodstained Wind and Sea
Zawa was a young harp seal from the Arctic Circle. Due to human greed for the seals' fur and blubber, Zawa and his group were hunted and killed in a large-scale polar hunt.
On the cold polar land, the howling of the bitter wind covered the harp seals' desperate cries and the clanging of tools as humans chased them down. The sound of clubs and picks hitting the seals' skulls echoed through the air.
For a moment, the wind stopped howling, and the serene and majestic landscape of the Arctic was replaced by the gruesome sight of humans dismembering the hunted seals. Bodies were separated, stomachs were cut open, and skins were peeled off, staining the white and silver ground and the blue sea with blood. The sea breeze carried a rust-like and eerie smell of blood.
Zawa was being handled by two young sailor hunters, who had knocked him out with a club. One of them, a skinny sailor with a small beard, joked, "Ha~ it's still alive. Let's see how long it can live after we cut it open." A burly sailor beside him hesitated and responded, "I don't know if that's a good idea..."
In an instant, the skinny sailor slashed open Zawa's belly with a knife. He then turned to his partner, putting his arm around his shoulder and said, "Let's go smoke over there."
The burly sailor could only follow the skinny sailor in silence.
Zawa was left with no strength to struggle, only able to stare angrily and speechlessly at the sky as he lay in his own blood. As his blood trickled away and his breathing grew weaker, he heard the heavy and raspy sound of boulders rolling. Then, a deep and hoarse voice said, "Oh, the poor life..."
