Follow Count on Nostr is unimportant and isn’t even really a factor of your “clout” or reach. I’ve seen accounts with like 100 followers that are well known and get a lot of attention, I’ve also seen accounts with like 50,000 followers and nobody replies or cares to reply to them. It’s not about the count it’s about the quality, for example one may have a bunch of bot accounts or past accounts that follow them but they only really know or talk to about 5. That’s why many clients don’t immediately show your follows and in different apps it can vary dramatically! This is a feature not a bug, it is supposed to be this way. The purpose of Nostr isn’t to be famous or for a couple of accounts to control it, it is supposed to be a place where anyone can communicate, post their thoughts, and BE HEARD! I’ve seen accounts that know nobody here join and get a ton of attention the first day, I’ve seen others that post daily for a year and nobody even knows. This is part of the magic, you will never know your true follower count and that’s ok. Just find your tribe and vibe. 🌊 🐶
