Following the launch of #OnlyZaps feature for Damus beta testers, Will shares his thoughts on the goals that drive decisions about Damus features. “Damus’ goal from day one has always been to give individuals complete control over the types of interactions they want to have. Algorithms, users, and advertisers do not have authority over individual preferences.”
Meanwhile Amethyst v0.34.0 is launched with NIP-94 support which will create a Kind 1063 event with a hash of the content of videos, images, and GIFs, on the regular feed and on chats/DMs. This was the beginning of the #clientwars due to image incompatibility issues which developed further during the week.
Twitter continued its slow implosion by removing most of the blue check marks from the hundreds of thousands of accounts belonging to celebrities, journalists, and other public figures who had been verified by Twitter before Musk changed the rules.

The timechain finally made it back to 1 sat/vB despite a plethora of monke JPEGs and Bitcoin Magazine inscriptions. Argentina's central bank hiked the benchmark interest rate a sharper-than-expected 300 basis points after inflation soared past expectations in March to hit 104% on an annual basis. 🤯🤯
Bitcoin magazine releases *super rare inscription* of their new magazine cover on a totally special “uncommon” 2010 satoshi 🙄Such wow!

The #clientwars saga continues with Will and Vitor discussing NIP-94 implementation on Nostr Nests, failing to reach a definitive compromise.
Elon Musk and Twitter cave to pressure and restore blue checkmarks for users with highest follower counts without requiring them to pay $8/month.⛓️ Reminder, #Nostr is still free.🕊️ Jack surprised to learn that Twitter verifies once again that he is indeed jack. 🕺
Lyn Alden spins up a dank meme on the WEF's positive story about bitcoin mining’s ability to soak up stranded energy and capture otherwise-leaking methane. Meanwhile they make sure to call miners “data centers”.

“Nostr is bigger than any of us or our projects. Act accordingly.” Verbicha
The #clientwars again dominated the timeline with images posted by Amethyst users failing to render on other clients. Vitor reminds us that NIP-94 is an established protocol, however, FiatJaf notes that NIP-94 was not meant to be implemented in this way.
Jack weighs in and says “Can’t we hash this one out? Everything has been so collaborative thus far.” Meanwhile, Will throws out the idea of Damus Android.
The Damus relay gets cut off from the internet due to a DNS error due to domain registration ✂️, and Will realizes that it was actually Damus.io’s 1-year anniversary 🎉🥳
Happy five year anniversary to The Bitcoin Standard!

Twitter is now adding labels to tweets that have been flagged by the company to reduce their visibility, as part of their “freedom of speech, not reach” approach. According to Twitter, this reduced visibility based on their own criteria does not constitute censorship or shadowbanning. 🤨🤡

THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT CASSIE
nostr:note140gq9m70gknspgnh2lvsyvthw7hm3x7q7qjpv5r98xlrtt3um8rql2zrlx
“I've read about #nostr on twitter, and I thought no one was using it.” - New user Cassie takes Nostr by storm. But what are her intentions? Her quick grasp of the nostr protocol sounded off alarms for certain users, while others defended her wonderful sense of curiosity and wonderment with the new protocol. Either way, it was a welcomed distraction from the #clientwars.
“I’m growing more and more concerned about the reliance on GitHub. And starting to think a bounty isn’t the right way to fund this work.” 🚨
