New challenge, wherein your task is to sit as long as possible through a viewing of EMILIA PEREZ. It is by far one of the worst things I've ever (mostly) seen, and the Oscars people who thought it deserved a nomination for Best Picture need to stop huffing their own farts.
I will sit through nearly anything, by the way. You'll rarely find a guy more open to even bad art. But this film is just bad. Horrible all the way around.
And yes, I'm your typical red-blooded American male who hates musicals, even musicals done well. That said, there's JOKER: FOLLY OF DOO DOO, and then there's this. I can at least see some beauty in the song-and-dance numbers as they blow their nose all over the Joker character in this film. EMILIA PEREZ is like assembling every mockery I've ever made of musicals and then running with them, as if they're good ideas. Man, what garbage.
