Hotel WiFi seems to kick me off for using a VPN... shifty.

Try Wireguard VPN. It's very good and simple protocol and very difficult for DPI blocking
https://www.wireguard.com/ - official client for all OSes https://lnvpn.com/ - good service for start. Config files are imported through qr codes in phone for example #VPN #Wireguard #Lightning
I am using Wireguard. What's happening is it connects, but the WiFi sign in resets every few hours, once that expires I'm kicked. Can't sign in again with the VPN on. So effectively being connected to a VPN kicks you off every few hours.
You can try check options "Exclude private addresses" in tunnel config

I used to spoof MAC addresses while living in a hotel in SEA I crashed their routers as it kept seeing new computers and added them to the never ending list
Disabling the VPN on local network connections that did it! Thank you man! Some zaps on the way for you!
This will allow traffic to private addresses and blocks go directly rather than through a VPN. That is, the internal network of the hotel will be accessible directly, and the rest will go through a VPN. Maybe this will help.

Don’t use “free” VPN
“Free” wifi i wanted to say jaja
I usually don't use hotel WiFi but the 4G here is very unreliable and Nostr doesn't work properly
