okay yea, agreed in that case. I do still think this is the best choice for "baby's first 'cold-ish' wallet" for the nontechnical user. Exchange -> BitKey, get some practice and learn -> proper airgapped cold storage -> one of: [roll your own multisig] or [whiteglove multisig services like Casa] depending on how technical you became in step 3. going right from an exchange to, say, coldcard + sparrow is a big leap for a noob
in my opinion, the responsibility of keeping a single seed phrase both safe from others and un-lost is really steep for most people. especially if they don't own a home and a safe and all that. I think multisig is safest for non-technical people, but I agree they should be using sovereign multisig as soon as possible. It's just probably not their first day off the exchanges. you're right though: perfect device hasn't been invented. if BitKey swapped out the app key for something more secure and private that would be a start.
