so looking forward to trotting through the mountains in these things... they will keep the bits out of my feet, they are about 10" tall, my preferred boot height, and if they do get wet, they are made of mainly nylon and urethane meaning a few hours in the sun and i'll be good to go, worst case
i got them after my epic adventure down to seixal to the west of sao vicente... my little black leather vivobarefoots, which they don't make anymore, sadly, made in africa and all, got quite wet and full of grit from the water, when i run across this again now i should be ok... i got waterproofing spray too, the boots are closed right up to the top so with hydrophobic treatment and brief immersion i probably will not even have to worry about drying my feet at all
well, i have been very pleased with my little black leather shoes, but again the laces were garbage, those little things have been absolutely awesome
the main thing i'm finding with these is that they are a bit stiff around the ankle and the anklebone protection is in the wrong place, my anklebones are a little taller, and the heel has a lot of motion which i know will be hard on my socks and skin
but yes, i am gonna get into wearing them regularly, i expect that they will stretch a little in places and get more comfy, and the dual spring clamp/elastic lacing scheme i've rigged up feels really good already
when i was in prison, for about a month i was obsessively thinking about how to make a slip-on jackboot style by using pleating and such to get the instep feel nice, because most shoes get that all wrong
