Was more excited than I should've been to see a pretty new pay phone at the H-E-B by the gas pumps. 50ยข for local cals and $1 for long distance. Kid slept until almost 11 today ๐คฏ๐ฑ!! This is a kid who has always been awake by 7:30-8 and most days around 6:30. Since we've started homeschooling, it's been consistently around 9 and later on the weekends. If I had to guess, it's the pressure of only having a limited amount of free time being off him. He chose to do 2 days of school work yesterday so today is a free day. It was such a good choice for us and I'm so happy the kid seems to be enjoying learning. I don't know why we waited so long to just do it. #momstr #kidstr

The kid asked to help cook today, we made a chicken shawarma salad. He mixed up the marinade for the chicken, made the dressing, chopped the onion and cucumber, threw the chicken in the skillet, and assembled the salads. The dressing had tahini in it, the kid said it tasted nutty and then started calling it nut water ๐ I somehow didn't laugh. I corrected him and told him it was sesame seeds and it was oil from the sesame seeds not water, he says so it's a seed oil ๐คจ. It was a good cooking lesson with no drama or bleeding, and the salad was yummy. #momstr #kidstr #kidssaythedarndestthings

The kid won a bug habitat as a door prize a couple of years ago. He has had a ton of fun catching things and putting them in it for a little while before letting them go. Today he found Mr. Slugs...he's very imaginative with his names ๐ 10/10 recommend getting one for your kid, he loves finding bugs and apparently slugs and looking at them up close. #momstr #kidstr
Eat the rainbow ๐. Veggie flatbreads for dinner tonight. Naan, hummus, and veggies of your choice; we're having red bell pepper, carrots I cooked a couple days ago, yellow heirloom tomato, brussels sprouts from the other night, and shallot (mine is the one covered in it). Heat the flat breads a bit at 400, smear with hummus and add your veggies on top. Heat it for 5 min or so then sprinkle with cheese, back in the oven to melt it and done! The kid frequently requests them, I use mini naan but any kind of flatbread works. #foodstr #kidstr #momstr

Today was a good day, got some sun and played with some yarn. Had a picnic lunch in the driveway... Made ranch dressing for the kid this evening and he ate a big salad with some chicken and wanted to eat more dressing by itself ๐. It's so rewarding when a kid really enjoys something you made just for them. #kidstr #momstr

Anyone else have a kid that goes crazy around the full moon (I know it isn't quite full yet)? It's like his brain leaves his body and we can't figure out what's going on...look outside and it's full moon ๐. A couple of days and he's back to normal. Life hack I wish I'd realized sooner, if you put your protein on a bed of sliced onions and tomatoes, you get deliciously flavorful meat and a nice saucy liquid to put over your side of choice. Today it's chicken over onions, tomatoes, lemon slices, and olives served over bulgur with a side of dilled cucumbers (kid's plate, mine wasn't as pretty ๐๐คทโโ๏ธ #momstr life). #foodstr
Getting harrassed by a third grader to doxx myself this morning in a chat. We have a private chat set up for the yarncheese kid and some friends, little sis of one of the kids got brother's tablet this morning and the harrassment started ๐. But this became a discussion about privacy as the first thing this little girl did was get out of the public chat and sent a message straight to me and sent a picture of her face. I repeatedly had to tell her to go back in to the group chat and finally she did and she sent 2 more pictures of hersef there. I'm not anti putting your face out there, but for this young girl to immediately take a picture of her face and put it out there scares me on her behalf. In the end, her dad was told, the time limit ran out on the tablet, and my identity is safe. #momstr #parentstr #kidstr
