I don't like the idea of #zapsonly Not everything I like deserves a micropayment. Likes can signify multiple things, such as "I've seen your reply, and acknowledge it but have nothing further to add to the conversation." Some people use it for other purposes, like as a personal bookmark feature.

Both likes and zaps are dopamine hits. But zaps are stronger activating rewards centers connected to money, which is for example also where coke hits. I'm convinced there's no good in deleting likes and that it will mean less engagement and, for outsiders already not on Nostr it will mean it's "an app where you pay to interact". Nostr growing means also 100s of millions of poor people living at $1/day. They should be allowed to engage with notes if they don't want to zap or comment. More, if they comment, they'll just leave a comment with a 💜 which is exactly one problem likes solved, one of the reasons they where implemented! 🙂 Also it should be an option if you want or not to use a bitcoin wallet to interact with Nostr notes. Make them want it but don't force it. Likes are already deeply rooted in internet culture. You're fighting psychology. So yes. You mention it’s in Test Flight. What are the odds it either (a) Rolls out Damus-wide after a beta round or (b) Becomes only an option for a sub-set of users? As much as I do like the ability to like and/or zap depending on the post, I hope the final rollout is standard regardless of the user (ie, likes and/or zaps for all OR #zapsonly for all).

😳…well…that’s a silly argument… I support freedom and dgaf if people want to be #ZapsOnly vs 🤙. Personally I like using the 🤙 as a personal check mark for things I’ve zapped as damus doesn’t reflect it at times and occasionally as an acknowledgment that I saw something that doesn’t require a reply. 😭 I just want the 💜🫂⚡️🤙🧡🏴☠️in this place back.

#ZapsOnly is a real 🧠 shifter. Completely changes the way you think about interactions on #Nostr I like it! However, it does not mean that others are obligated to listen or agree with those opinions. As an individual, you have the right to choose whether or not to engage with someone else's ideas or arguments. It's important for people to respect each other's boundaries and understand that not everyone will share the same viewpoints.

Switched my default zap amount to 21. Anything I want to like I will Zap instead because my client doesn't have zaps only mode. #21sats #zapsonly #onlyzaps
