I’ll start — People often ask me which Alan Watts book to read first. In my opinion, “The Book: On The Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are” is his magnum opus. It’s short, and yet every word of it has depth. I find myself thinking about its teachings nearly every day, as it so perfectly relays the internal debate curious people have surrounding the age-old question: “Who am I?” The answers will astound you, particularly if you are a Westerner who’s unfamiliar with Buddhist/Hindu philosophy. Alan has a unique ability to bring to bear both Eastern and Western thought for a remarkably well-rounded view of reality #AlanWatts #Bookstr https://nostr.build/i/nostr.build_6de4c1e4a0653e2f74d32d6b1d863af08863a8bbfcc4d27a2f05f145fbf8bb7f.jpeg #[2]

I’m there 👏🏻👏🏻
Would be a wonderful way to separate out and share quotes and snippets of audiobooks too!
I’m imagining basically a decentralized GoodReads that just aggregates all data, quotes, recommendations, and users for a searchable “bookverse.” This is a cool ass idea. You can do this for so many topics 🤔🔥💜
Great idea

This sounds great, and thanks for getting the ball rolling, Alan. Here’s a favourite of mine which seems to complement yours: ———————— Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse is a short Bildungsroman which focuses on the spiritual, social and moral growth of the protagonist, named Siddhartha, from childhood to adulthood. Originally written in German, Siddhartha is beautifully written and is set during the time of the Buddha. It’s a serene and thought-provoking read and one which I often find myself reflecting on. If you enjoy this Hesse has written plenty more brilliant, insightful, and lyrical novels. #Siddhartha #HermannHesse Bookstr
Would be cool to integrate with LibraryThing. They aren't decentralized, but they are an open-data alternative to sites like Goodreads, and nimble when it comes to adding new data sources and features. I'm betting the owner would be up for it.
